Jive – Swing Dance International version, currently Jive (Jive) performed in two styles – International and Swing and very often combine the two in different shapes. Very strong influence on Jive has such dances as Rock’n'Roll and Dzhaterbag. Jive sometimes referred to as Shestishagovy rock’n'roll.
Jive has appeared in 19 century in the southeast United States, where some believe that he was a Negro, the other – that military Seminole Indians in Florida (around caught pale-faced or his skull). There is a version that negros danced him in Africa, and then he started dancing Indians.
The word “Jive” is similar to the South African word “Jev” – “disparage. Also, “Jive” has a similar meaning in Negro slang: “deception, trick, though probably derived from the English” jibe “, in slang -” cheap goods “,” marijuana. Similarly, it is unknown which of these words was the original name for the dance and the original meaning is not clear why invested in this.
At the 1880th was already competitive – it danced negros the southern U.S. for the prize, which was frequently a cake, so was known then as Cakewalk (Pirozhkova walk). It consisted of two parts – first, the solemn procession pairs, then the winding, which the participants danced in specially designed costumes. Music that accompanies it, called Ragtime (rag – rag), possibly because the participants wore their best “rags” (clothes), or because the music was syncopation and “torn.
Music and were popular among the black population of Chicago and New York. This incendiary blacks with vibrant music contrasted sharply with the limited and strict dance of the upper white classes of the USA and the UK. With the death of Queen Victoria in 1901 the society feel freer and a lot of simple dances based on the same rhythms, became popular among white: bumble Yankees, Texas rag Restless racing, wagging a barrel, squatting, Scabies, Threshing and harvesting (the Yankee Tangle, the Texas Rag, the Fanny Bump, the Funky Butt, the Squat, the Itch, the Grind and the Mooche). Some animals have names, apparently of Agriculture and pantomimic nature: a lame duck, rushing horse, grizzly bears, step crab, rock eagle, flying in a loop, the Turkish move, jumping kangaroos, fish move and jumps a rabbit (Lame Duck, Horse Trot, Grizzly Bear, Crab Step, Eagle Rock, Buzzard Lope, Turkey Trot, Kangaroo Dip, Fishwalk and Bunny Hug).
Modern jive is still Bunny Hug (jump Rabbit) as one of the main steps. This is the same Chasse aside – when the rabbit or hare is frightened, he jumped from their seats to the side. All of these dances performed to the music of ragtime, with accents on beats 2 and 4, in syncopated rhythms. They all used the same elements that now there is a jive as our dance and other Latin American dances: steps, Morocco, throw, bounce (abdominal muscles) Sway (stretching the body – both sides) (couples doing a walk, rock, swoop, bounce or sway).
The closed position was considered indecent, and sometimes the lady wore a special corset, so as not to accidentally touch the body of a partner. Significant changes in the dance began in 1910, when many solo dances danced in pairs, the dancers began to combine the figures of their dancing in random order. Each dancer – man has become a leading, instant choreographer. The change occurred as a change of interest from steps to rhythm. This coincided with the song Irving Berlin’s “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” in 1910, which quickly became a worldwide hit.
In the twenties Ragtime evolved into a popular swing. Foxtrot was invented by Harry Fox to speak at the show in New York in 1913 (A fox is not actually). Charleston was brought by sailors from the islands of Cape Verde. Then he began to dance in a circle of African-American dockworkers in the Port of Charleston, and he became popular in white society after inclusion in the show “Running Wild” in 1923 Zigfildom Fallis (Ziegfield Follies) after his visit to the United States.
Subsequently, this has become so popular that many well-known dance studios were in its schedule to include it as a “PCQ” – “Please Charleston calmer” (“Please Charleston Quietly”). Dance “Black Bottom” became popular after inclusion in the show “ViterGeorge Whiter’s Scandals”. Foxtrot, Charleston, black bottom and the various steps of animals were combined into Lindy Hop (Lindy Hop, Lindy Flight) in 1927. It was named for Charles Lindbergh, who first made a single non-stop transatlantic flight. Dancers, like Lindbergh, a lot of time on the air.
In 1934, cab Calloway (Cab Calloway) has been described, which he saw in Harlem and called the madness of nerve shocks (the frenzy of jittering bugs), this variation of the dance became known as the Jitterbug (dzheteberg), which was particularly popular in America in the forties.
The modern version has the basic jive steps, consisting of rapid syncopated Chasse (step, the prefix, step) to the left and right (opposite a partner), along with a slower step back and return in advance. Hips appear on the account “and” after every step, the weight is much ahead in all steps, all steps are done with the sock. During Chasse (eg, left) foot is feet, which is one step (left), rising to the level of the knee pivot foot, and the further right leg up as much and creates optical illusion “moonwalk” (lunar footsteps), the dancers at this seem to be weightless.
In the beginning, in 1927, was only a youth. Dancers older disapproved of him and tried to ban because of flipping: he danced on the spot that hurt other dancers moving through the dance. Dance remained a youth and later, changing a swing, boogie-woogie, bebop, rock, twist, disco and hustle (Swing, Boogie-Woogie, Be-Bop, Rock, Twist, Disco and Hustle).
The basic technique of Latin American dance, unlike Europe, was first ordered and described by Walter Laird (Walter Laird). Teachers worked hard dance jive, so that in the end he got a decent form in which it could perform at various dance venues. Jive is good in that it can perform in a small crowded room.
